HD TiVo
Did I mention my Series3 TiVo came? With Lifetime service! :) Merry Christmas to me! I called Comcast to set up an appointment for them to install the CableCARDs. The tier 1 tech I was speaking to insisted that I didn't need CableCARDs, but instead I needed "TiVo Cards". Aside from the fact that I need two, there is no actual difference, and I made a polite effort to correct him. By the time I finally got off the phone, he had basically told me that I'm paying for "TiVo cards" because I'm not using their DVR (but I can't argue with $1.50/month per card compared to other numbers I've heard) and that only televisions take cable cards. I had to bust out laughing after I finally hung up the phone. All that effort, and Comcast couldn't even bother to actually show up on Tuesday after I sat at home all afternoon. I'm getting a little antsy to actually record things in HD. Comments
Did you tell the tech at Krapcast that you actually WORK for TiVo and you may actually know what you're talking about? That's what I hate whenever I call someone for tech support. Most of the time they think you're clueless and don't know crap. Cox Cable is just as bad. I have a degree in Electrical Engineering and do computer network research and development. Don't tell me I don't know what I'm talking about! When I call and say that their network is down, don't blame MY end! I hate it when they insult my intelligence! Hey, you're not alone - Comcast stood me up too! I blew a whole Saturday waiting around for them. When I first called, they said they couldn't locate the tech. An hour after the 4 hour window expired they called back and said they'd have to come another day. Excellent customer service, don't you think? When they did arrive one of the CableCARDs didn't work, so I suggested grabbing another from the van. Turns out they only travel with the cards they need, so I had to schedule a THIRD appointment. Pathetic! In my region the cards are free. Which is fine considering these guys overcharge in general and provide crappy human service. So how much did a S3 with Lifetime actually cost you? ;) Posted by: Dave Zatz at December 14, 2006 06:59 AMDave P: I was laughing too hard to tell him that :P I didn't want to sound threatening, he was so nice! Dave Z: Still *way* too much. It'd be worth it if TiVo2Go worked :) And Comcast did the same to me at my original install, you apparently can't do a self install as a first time customer. After like 6 hours, they still couldn't locate the tech and then they said he got lost, which is funny since he never called, and they were nice enough to actually send someone out at like 8 or 9pm. And then the cable box he had didn't even work. Posted by: kim at December 14, 2006 09:10 AMNice! That's a pretty sweet Christmas gift. Posted by: Alex at December 24, 2006 10:06 AM |
