We had a 5.6 magnitude earthquake here tonight... my first one in CA. Instead of just the rigid shaking I expected, the walls completely shifted and swayed back and forth... that was the freakiest part. Luckily everything breakable on my shelves is stuck down with earthquake/museum putty, but a few framed LPs on the wall were victims. Oddly, since I hadn't locked my front door after bringing in groceries, it worked its way open also. [Update]: According to the local news, it was the largest quake to hit the Calaveras fault since the 1984 Morgan Hill earthquake. Comments
yeah, that pretty much sucked. i was in the shower. Posted by: nik at October 31, 2007 12:48 AMwe got 2 calls shortly afterwards since people seemed to think it was the Hayward fault at first... but we barely felft it.. the cubbord door that was open shook a little bit. Museum putty... gonna have to get some of that. Posted by: Riodutchie at October 31, 2007 01:12 PM |
