wKen?

Does anyone know whatever happened to wKen?

P.S. Not that you care, but my real-time music list hasn't updated in a while because my HD went boom and I haven't set iTunes and my happy little playlist uploader back up yet.

KFOG on weblogs

So the KFOG Morning Show did a spot on weblogs yesterday. They asked for peoples' favorite blogs, and I wrote in. Hey, free publicity.

iTunes playlist

I've got two different plugins that will upload my last 10 played songs from Winamp to my blog, but has anyone seen a utility to do this for iTunes for Windows? I've Googled, and haven't seen anything but Applescripts. I suppose I could write something to parse the XML and ftp a file to include, but why reinvent the wheel.

I noticed the Post-Gazette has a bit on Pittsburgh webloggers. Funny, I had no idea Obscure Store was a Pittsburgh blog. They failed to mention some of my favorite local reads though, like Cope, Jilly, and Craig.

Updates

Added the modified script to make the "Continue reading" link open inline instead of opening the archive link. Readded the 'listening to section', Netflix History works again, and am still fighting with the MTAmazon plugin. Also, I broke the individual archive style sheets, so good luck reading the blue on blue until I fix it. All better, now to do the same on category archives.

Someone hijacked my blogroll!

No news on blogrolling.com yet... I did try to contact them. All of my blogrolls are currently pointing to something called Laura's blog at http://rockergirl.zapto.org. (Not linked for obvious reasons). It hasn't shown up on a high listing at Blogdex yet, so it can't be too widespread. I don't actually have backups of my blogrolls so this could suck.

[Update:] Looks like it's fixed for now.

MMmmm... spam

Online-HGH.com has made it to #5 on Blogdex. If you're not already using it, I suggest MT-Blacklist for Movable Type users. I uninstalled mine because it was causing timeouts on rebuilds, but a new version was just released. You can then go swipe other people's blacklists to import into yours and have a very thorough blocking list.

This is old news, but I was sick yesterday and didn't really even have the attention span for web browsing. I paid for Blogger Pro as soon as it was available, but soon after, I switched to Movable Type. It's too bad I didn't renew my Blogger Pro subscription, because it would be awfully swell to get a free Blogger sweatshirt. (Hey just because I'm a convert, doesn't mean I don't still think Blogger did good things. I started out with them, afterall.)

Why can't Amphetadesk handle RSS

Why can't Amphetadesk handle RSS feeds generated by Blogger Pro? Every one that it has vomited on has been a Blogger Pro blog.

Can anyone recommend a better news aggregator?

Everyone's up in arms about Salam Pax

I enjoyed reading the comments attached to the post, though some of the 'conspiracy theories' got a little old.

My take? He's related to someone important, hence the priviledge of internet access longer than most would have had it, and he seemed fairly well off before. This doesn't necessarily make him a member of either Iraqi camp.

I knew it was coming

Google blog search tool. A good way to filter out the weblog noise of search results, but often weblogs are useful in my searches... like looking for my Playstation2 problem. I found other people with similar experiences. But just like Usenet, I can search them when I really want to.

After two weeks of hearing about Blogshares, I figured I'd jump in the game. But after registering, it can't find my weblog. Which is odd, since I ping weblogs.com every time I post. When I try to claim it I get js errors: "Warning: Too many connections in /home/monkeyx/blogshares/html/lib/functions.php on line 28 Warning: MySQL Connection Failed: Too many connections in /home/monkeyx/blogshares/html/lib/functions.php on line 28 Fatal error: Call to undefined function: gettext() in /home/monkeyx/blogshares/html/lib/functions.php on line 29" And the forums won't load. So it's already not fun. Bleah.

RSS's latest convert

I've been converted to the joys of RSS, and have been using Amphetadesk. However, when I try to subscribe to RSS feeds of some Blogger users, such as BoingBoing, I'm getting an error that it can't determine the format of the RSS feed. Not in the mood to read documents and figure it out. *Procrastination*

This guy has really done his homework.

I saw a few of the blogs in question the other day and began wondering. For some reason I kept reading caseys cam as casey scam. Also, out of curiousity, I tried to sign up for Project Blogger before I connected the dots and it kept telling me that http://starjewel.org is an invalid URL. If they require a www then they don't know a whole lot. I think I stumbled onto it via aboutagirl. Funny, because I think they're working for Richards Interactive? I don't even like Dr. Pepper... a bunch of bloggers aren't going to change my mind. Stupid marketting whores invading our precious blogosphere.

Both the wKenShow and HooptyLoops

Both the wKenShow and HooptyLoops have left us this week. I hope this isn't going to become a trend in the blogging world. Does that mean wKen is no longer running for office with Suzie? Good luck to both of them.

We're baaaaack

Movable Type rocks. I tried to to do this yesterday but the Berkeley database corrupted about 10 minutes after setup. I'm now using MySQL and things are happy. I'm going to swim a whole lot of laps and then I'll play with templates, categories and everything else.

I'm currently installing Movable Type.

I'm currently installing Movable Type. Hopefully I'll be back publishing to my server soon, with comments, archives and all the bells and whistles :) I think the only thing I'll miss about Blogger is being able to publish from my cell phone, and I only used that two or three times.

Big news!

I keep threatening to move to Movable Type, especially now that version 2.6 is out, but I learned last night that Pyra (makes of Blogger) just got bought by Google. That will mean more servers, staff, and resources. Perhaps a good reason to hang on to Blogger.

Have you noticed recently that a majority of search hits on Google tend to come up with weblogs? Mostly because weblogs are so prevalent on the web these days. That works to my advantage sometimes, because often the information I'm looking for is based on other people's experiences (like my Playstation problem... Sony would never document that). We had Salon blogs, but Salon is about dead. Just think, Google blogs... Bloogle! I wonder how many things Google can get it's hands into at once before it hits a threshhold, or becomes too good to be true? Funny... Ev mentioned the news on his weblog but not on the front of Blogger yet.
