woohoo

That project my team has been working so hard on? We had a launch party this afternoon at Dave & Busters. It's only available in New England as of yet, but it's a good feeling to see something you put blood and sweat into go live.

TWC

Time Warner's New DVR Software Is So Horrible That Lincoln, NE Has To Hold A Public Hearing. Seriously. Maybe people will just give up and buy TiVos. [Seen on The Consumerist.]

A bigger fangirl than me

Kethryvis: TiVo really is the perfect boyfriend
Kethryvis: we leave each other alone for the most part
Kethryvis: not really getting in each other's way
Kethryvis: 'cept for every couple of days when we come together and it's pure magic :)

HD TiVo

Did I mention my Series3 TiVo came? With Lifetime service! :) Merry Christmas to me! I called Comcast to set up an appointment for them to install the CableCARDs. The tier 1 tech I was speaking to insisted that I didn't need CableCARDs, but instead I needed "TiVo Cards". Aside from the fact that I need two, there is no actual difference, and I made a polite effort to correct him. By the time I finally got off the phone, he had basically told me that I'm paying for "TiVo cards" because I'm not using their DVR (but I can't argue with $1.50/month per card compared to other numbers I've heard) and that only televisions take cable cards. I had to bust out laughing after I finally hung up the phone.

All that effort, and Comcast couldn't even bother to actually show up on Tuesday after I sat at home all afternoon. I'm getting a little antsy to actually record things in HD.

TiVo wins an Emmy!

Old news that we won an Emmy for Interactive Television... but we all got our photos taken with the Emmy, and I uploaded it to my Flickr account.

New job!

I turned in my official resignation to Macrovision today. This was the job that I moved to California for. My last day is Friday... then I start my new job on Monday :) I'm excited and nervous at the same time.

Simpsons <3 TiVo: Take Two

Previously

Tonight's Simpsons intro ended with the TiVo Delete Screen and "Delete this Program Now" being chosen, which led into the credits. Cute.

more gushing from the TiVo fangirl

I've already sent the link to everyone I know, but I might as well blog it too. Via Dave Zatz, Amazon has a pre-order listing for the newest Series2 which will include a dual tuner for an analog and a digital channel, and ethernet. If this leak on TiVoCommunity is legit, I have to say, the new box is less ugly than the current ones. The black in the faceplate instead of the pale grey is much more appealing to me. Call it a light-weight series3, or just something to tide consumers over until S3 is released, but it's quite spiffy.

Also, somewhat related... Pippa has coined the word 'TiVolicious', and I full intend to use it in my vocabulary from now on :)

TiVo 7.2.2

Yes, posting is sparse... not a whole lot to say. However, I am a TiVo fangirl, so I thought I'd point out there is priority signup for the new 7.2.2 software. I just received the update, and it's got one button delete, a recently deleted folder (undelete) and supposedly better suggestions. My suggestions pretty much only ever include reruns of shows I have on season pass, so we'll see about that.

Simpsons <3's TiVo too

The future machine used a TiVo menu system with the "bloop bloop" noises and everything. *giggle*

PVRBlog has a screenshot and a clip.

Before my TiVo upgraded to the new 7.1 software, I'd been using TiVo Desktop on my laptop to stream mp3s to my entertainment center via the TiVo. For some reason, the new software (TiVo 7.1 as well as TiVo Desktop 2.0) is not playing nicely and my TiVo will not recognize my laptop, nor will the laptop recognize either TiVo in the house. After troubleshooting it for a couple hours today, I had the brilliant idea of trying TiVo desktop on my desktop machine. Both run XP SP2, the firewall rules are the same, and yet... it works. It doesn't much matter, since now I can burn them to DVD from the desktop so they don't suck up HD space on my laptop. So now, I have the first four episodes of this season's Alias to watch on the plane :)

Speaking of television... did anyone catch Extreme Houses of Europe" on HGTV today? I am in love with Chillingham Castle. And the butterfly house? Bizarre. I remember seeing a lot of interesting homes as we drove and walked through Surrey.

Tivo2Go is live!

Ok so PVRBlog and TiVo Blog both have nothing, but I've been hitting tivo.com/togo daily, and sometime between last night and tonight, it has officially gone live. (Thank you Jon!) Sadly, the site says it could be several weeks before your tivo has the necessary updates due to high demand. Get on the priority list.

I read about the possibllity of HBO auto deleting their programming from your TiVo after a certain period on PVRBlog, emailed HBO, and they vaguely reassured me. And yet, I am still reading about it.
